about

(about us...)
You might call it fate, or maybe destiny, but what Midwest natives Louisa Soli-Holt and Dan Finch call their coming together is, “a powerful example of synchronicity…the Universe gave us the best gift we could have never asked for.” Both former alternative secondary school educators, Louisa and Dan were each being individually driven by Music to explore other creative endeavors beyond their South Dakota homes when they met, quite unexpectedly. A rapid romance later, their stories took to writing and weaving themselves together, leading the two over the Pacific to the Hawaiian Islands where Louisa came across her 5-string ukulele. Having taken piano lessons for 9 years and voice for a few, Louisa had never before played an ukulele, but, she claims, “She chose me.” With Dan’s translation of his worldly, rhythmic bass background onto the 6 strings of his guitar, improvised with ease across the frets, the two together create a sound that is as enticing to the ear as it is empowering to the soul. Their lyrics, sung through Louisa’s strikingly clear and penetrating voice, leave little to be desired and much to be explored about the depths of being and love and staying true to who we are, thus inviting a more intimate experience with every performance. The two have committed themselves completely to their cause, choosing to take their music and message on a continuous tour throughout the country, sharing what they have with all who care to listen. Their sound is timeless, able to touch the hearts of people age 0 to 90, challenging all to feel the Music that lives within us and to dance through life with its beat.

(about the album...)
After falling in love in January, finding peace in Hawaii in April, and committing to music as a life in May, 8 months after the Universe brought us together we release the four songs that have laid our foundation. This creation is out of a feeling of necessity, that we simply must share who we are and what we are learning in the hopes of encouraging others to find what they need for themselves. All of what you hear and see is from us directly, no outside sources were used. That being said, any amount of support is greatly appreciated. This is only the beginning, and for us to be able to continue we simply cannot do it alone. Gratitude abounding,

The Copoetics ~ true. connected. folk.

about

The Copoetics

Music is the vehicle that moves us onward, driving us to honor the language it has etched into the eaves of our souls. From music we learn that it is in giving we receive; thus, we give ourselves to the music of our souls and to opening the pathways between the souls of us all. We meet as our own unique poets, creating an entirely new poem, Copoetics of this life, this living, this love. ... more

Track Name: In 6 Times 4
As you are lost I am found,
Feeling the silence within this sound;
The trouble is do you know?
Or will I need to stop the show?
A little of this, some of that,
Without so much as a loving pat.
-
Ride the wave through smoke inhaled,
Cannot help but feel impaled,
Used, disheartened, patronized,
Fueled by jealousy of my size.
No! You will not take my pride
Of how I choose to make my stride.
-
So take your cup and I'll take mine,
And fill it with what is felt divine;
Remembering that what you see
Are reflections of how you choose to be,
And what you taste from in your cup
Is what is going to fill you up.
-
Steadier, steady I make my way,
Working my soil with each new day.
Harvest I know will come along,
And it's with that faith I sing my song,
For me, for you, for all of us!
That we may find within the trust.
Track Name: It Rolls On
Awaken the song bright on the cusp
Of trails endearing, weave reckless to clearing;
Sweet movements of fancy caught bridged in divine,
Root elsewhere in search, search fearless, send forth!
Take the hold strong!
Course into flat grasses,
Roll pleasantly onward,
Full circle in time.

Cling now to the branches, be carried away;
Mysteries churning, sense all you can feel.
Open the way, move forward but pause:
Take hold of the soul, pure water run free!
Take the hold strong!
Course into flat grasses,
Roll pleasantly onward,
Full circle in time.

Sway sweetly throughout, gather and share,
Webs woven when greeting, leave not the heart bleeding.
Find reason midst all, succumb to the path;
Accept now the way, step lightly, dance on!
Take the hold strong!
Course into flat grasses,
Roll pleasantly onward,
Full circle in time
Track Name: Job's Tears
Goel, goel, may these tears redeem me.
Fortune falling,
Kneel beneath me,
Respond to my cries!
Friends forsake me,
make me anger with words;
What do you say?
Say what you mean!
I, too, mean to tell.
Goel, goel, may these tears redeem me.
Goel, goel, take me, use me, just free me!
---
Goel, goel, may these tears redeem me.
I'm not to blame,
I need my name,
What shame now I know.
You took all I had, I carry no more,
My worth now is gone.
What do you say?
Say what you mean!
I, too, mean to tell.
Goel, goel, may these tears redeem me.
Goel, goel, take me, use me, just free me!
---
Wonder at the day, will it go away, what is all this for?...
Why oh, why oh?!
Take away my wealth, challenging my health, no more need for hope...
Why oh, why oh?!
You who stand so near, grinning ear to ear, oh so quick to judge!...
Why oh, why oh?!
Rivers running dry, people left to die, how much do we know?...
Why oh, why oh?!
---
Goel, goel, may these tears redeem me.
Defeated I lie,
Leave me to die,
The salt of my tears cares to dry.
You give no hope, hope no more lives,
There's nothing left for me.
What do you say?
Say what you mean!
I, too, mean to tell.
Goel, goel, may these tears redeem me.
Goel, goel, take me, use me, just free me!

Track Name: Here, Hear!
Here in the moments lost easy in the mind,
Hear the song of life around you,
Grow freely, in kind.
Find the fall,
Frame the focus,
Sound the call,
Join the motion onward!

Seeking ways with hunger feeds nothing but time;
See the breath of life around you,
Right now, it's here.
Find the fall,
Frame the focus,
Sound the call,
Join the motion onward!

Once upon a time we did know
That to get what we want we must sew;
With thread and with seed, manifesting our need,
Weave together, supporting what grows.

Fear not the answer; open, enter, find the way;
Feel the peace of life around you,
Strength of being, take the day.
Find the fall,
Frame the focus,
Sound the call,
Join the motion onward!
